Crowns and Bridges

Having a tooth become lost or severely damaged is one of the most troubling oral health issues that a person can experience. A lost or damaged tooth can ruin the look of a person’s smile, and it can make basic tasks like chewing and speaking clearly quite difficult. Krause Dental offers dental crowns and bridges that are designed to restore the look of a person’s smile, while also providing them with the full function of strong, healthy teeth.

In order to ensure that our restorations fit exceptionally well, we are proud to use The 3Shape TRIOS intraoral camera to create our impressions. This means an easy, comfortable process with no gagging or goopy molds.

Porcelain Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped structure that is applied over a damaged tooth or a dental implant in order to provide the appearance and function of a healthy tooth. In most cases, a crown serves as a “cap” for an existing tooth that has been severely damaged. These types of crowns will strengthen the injured tooth so that it can perform properly. A crown may also be installed on top of an implant if the original tooth has been lost entirely, essentially having the crown serve as a replacement tooth. Additionally, dental crowns may also be used on natural teeth to help them support a dental bridge that will be used to replace a tooth that is missing. Krause Dental offers crowns built from porcelain, a material known for its natural look and superb performance.

Dental crowns have many applications in modern dentistry, including:

  • Strengthening injured teeth
  • Protecting teeth following root canal therapy
  • Improving the function of teeth
  • Adjusting the appearance of teeth
  • Correcting misshapen teeth
  • Supporting a dental bridge

When applying a dental crown, we will start by either prepping the damaged tooth for a dental crown or by surgically installing a dental implant. If the crown is going to be applied over an existing tooth, a small amount of tooth enamel will need to be shaved off so that the new crown will fit properly. Once the crown is ready to be installed, a strong dental adhesive will be used to ensure that the restoration remains secure and steady at all times.

Traditional Bridges

A dental bridge is recommended when a patient is missing one or more teeth. Once applied, the bridge will offer both the appearance and function of strong, healthy teeth. Krause Dental offers traditional bridges that are supported by dental crowns that are applied to the teeth on either side of the gap. Using this method, the new teeth will remain secure and steady at all times, while also maintaining a natural appearance. Most traditional bridges remain intact for five to ten years before requiring replacement, though they can last even longer if exceptional care and maintenance are provided.
